Obstructive Sleep Apnea Symptoms - Sleep Disruption

Difficulty staying asleep is one of the sleep apnea symptoms directly related to the frequent awaken signals issued by the brain. The sleep pattern is frequently interrupted resulting in restlessness.

Morning headache, along with dry mouth and sore throat are sleep apnea symptoms resulting from lack of oxygen to the brain, and the frequent gasps for air when breathing is resumed. In addition, mental impairment from restlessness and interrupted sleep can result in memory lapses, problems concentrating, personality changes and even depression.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea Symptoms - Two Most Common

The most common symptom of sleep apnea is snoring which is of course a difficult symptom to spot yourself and normally needs to be pointed out to you by a sleeping partner. Snoring has many causes and the presence of snoring is not by itself an indication that you have sleep apnea.

The second common symptom is excessive daytime tiredness. Sleep apnea causes you to stop breathing frequently during sleep and the body's natural reaction to this is to wake you just enough for you to start breathing again. The result of this is that your sleep is very light and continually interrupted and you do not enjoy the deep sleep that your body needs to recharge its batteries.
